How to Find, Organize and Delete Screenshots on iPhone

Screenshots are handy for saving directions, order confirmations, recipes, and conversations. Over time, old captures can make your photo library hard to browse. Here's a way to review them without losing information you may need.

Find screenshots in the Photos app

Open Photos, go to Collections, find Media Types, and choose Screenshots. The layout may vary by iOS version, but the Screenshots media type is the place to start. A full-page screenshot saved as a PDF may instead be in the Files app, so check there if a capture is missing.

Decide what to keep before selecting anything

Start with outdated delivery updates, repeated shots of the same screen, temporary directions, and shopping comparisons you no longer need. Review a small group at a time. Before deleting, check for receipts, event tickets, account recovery information, and important reference details. Save anything you still need in a more appropriate place.

Delete only the screenshots you have reviewed

In the Screenshots collection, tap Select, choose reviewed items, and use the delete control to confirm. There is no need to clear the whole collection at once. On supported versions of Photos, you can also adjust view options to hide screenshots from the main photo grid. Hiding screenshots from a view does not delete them or free storage.

Check iCloud Photos and Recently Deleted

With iCloud Photos enabled, deleting a screenshot in Photos can also remove it from other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Keep an independent copy of important records before deleting. Items ordinarily remain in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days unless permanently removed earlier. This is a recovery window, not a substitute for a backup. Actual local space savings depend on your photo storage and sync settings.

Build a five-minute screenshot cleanup habit

Once a week, review the screenshots you made recently. Save useful details first, then remove clearly disposable captures. If you have years of screenshots, work month by month. Small, deliberate sessions are easier to maintain and reduce the risk of deleting something important.

How LumoKeep can help

LumoKeep can help you review screenshots alongside similar photos and large media on iPhone. Mark items you no longer want and check your selections before deletion. The built-in Screenshots collection works without any third-party app; LumoKeep is an optional tool for a broader, review-first cleanup workflow. It does not automatically delete screenshots or promise a fixed amount of storage saved.
