Quick answer: how to choose
Consider Hide Photos for an account-free, no-ad iPhone photo vault with on-device AES-GCM encryption, a six-digit PIN, optional Face ID, and portable encrypted backups under your control. The newer version also supports up to three decoy vaults, per-album locking and custom sorting and pinning in albums.
Consider Keepsafe when its cloud backup and restore model is more convenient. Keepsafe also supports album locks and a decoy vault in its paid tier; those two features are not unique to Hide Photos.
Keepsafe vs Hide Photos: what differs?
| Feature | Keepsafe | Hide Photos: Secret Album |

| Decoy vault | A second gallery with another PIN (Premium) | Up to three decoy vaults in the newer version, subject to plan |
| Album locks | Separate album passwords (Premium) | Individual album protection in the newer version |
| Organizing | Albums and album rearrangement | Simple album operations, custom sorting and pin-to-top controls |
| Bulk import responsiveness | No controlled comparative test available | Concurrent encryption processing intended to reduce UI blocking |

Three decoy vaults, album locks and faster organization
Hide Photos' newer version makes it possible to set up as many as three alternate decoy spaces, each with its own configured PIN. Individual album locks add an extra access step for selected collections. Custom sorting and pin-to-top controls help keep important photos easier to find in the private album.
Decoys and album locks are access tools, not guarantees against forensic inspection or coercion. Album-level locking does not by itself prove that every album uses a separate encryption key. Read our decoy PIN explanation and security documentation.
Version note: Up to three decoy vaults, separately protected albums, custom sorting, pinning and recent batch-import improvements are features of a newer app version. Check the installed App Store build and your plan to see which features are available to you.
Will bulk imports feel smoother?
Hide Photos has optimized importing and encrypting multiple photos and videos by processing encryption work concurrently while reducing unnecessary interface refreshes. The design aims to avoid blocking the main interface during larger batches. Actual import time depends on device performance, file sizes, storage and whether original media must first download from iCloud.
This is an implementation description, not a benchmark against all other vault apps. We cannot say competing apps have not optimized their imports or are always slower without repeatable side-by-side tests.
Does it feel simple to use?
Ease of use matters as much as a long feature checklist. A Korean iOS App Store review reported by the developer, version 1.6, rated Hide Photos five stars and said: “편하게 사용할수있어서 좋아요” (English translation: “I like it because it's easy to use.”). This is one user's feedback about an earlier version, not a statement about the new features or a claim that everyone has the same experience.
Cloud backup or your own encrypted export?
Keepsafe's optional private cloud can simplify restoring media on another device. Hide Photos instead lets you export an encrypted backup file that you store where you choose. With local-first storage, you are responsible for keeping the backup and credentials safe. If the file is later stored in a cloud-drive folder, that storage provider's policies and settings apply.
Always test a restore before removing originals. Imported copies may still exist in Apple Photos, iCloud Photos, Recently Deleted or older vaults. Read the encrypted vault migration checklist.
